UQ GEMS is a UQ Union affiliated society that aims to connect students who study or have an interest in Geography, Environmental Management, or related fields.

 

We organise numerous social, industry, and volunteering events throughout the university year. Social events include our annual pubcrawls and balls, as well as other new events, such as scavenger hunts. If tossing a ball around with your fellow enviro crew is more up your alley,  we also have social sport teams each semester, with the sport chosen varying often.

GEMS also hosts regular volunteering events: come and get your hands dirty at our monthly St Lucia Bushcare or learn more about our native wildlife at events such as nest-box monitoring. These are all great opportunities to have fun, get to know your peers, and even learn something.

Finally, we host multiple industry events across the year, which we also invite our industry sponsors to. These are perfect for GEMbers at any stage in their degree, as it is never too early to meet professionals, learn about their companies, and potentially gain post-graduate opportunities.
